Meet Jo Mcluckie

If you have ever talked to Jo, you quickly come to realize how friendly, joyful and encouraging she is! She is so fun to be around!  I met Jo when I joined the Women's Ministries Team.  She knows my grandma pretty well and boy does my grandma have a lot of wonderful things to say about Jo!  I quickly found out that grandma was right!  She is a joy to our team and has such a passion for women and helping them grow closer to God!  Thanks Jo for serving with the Connecting in Christ ministry!

I have been involved with Connecting in Christ for 15 years. It was originally named Homemakers and it was begun in 1982 by Joan Workman.
Many people are involved in this ministry. Connecting in Christ is portrayed in two parts: Connecting in Christ Coffees which are programs that are designed around a project or topic that would interest women of all ages. Those programs are held four times a year. The second part of Connecting in Christ is our Bible studies.  They begin in the fall and continue through spring. There are five to choose from, some very small groups and some larger. Our topics range from studying a particular book in the Bible to relationship issues or improving oneself. Our studies and coffees are always on Tuesday morning from 9:15 to 11:00. We have child care workers, kitchen help, greeters, Bible study leaders and of course Donna Yost and her staff.  All working together, we have a successful year!
As far as how many people attend, we have an average of 40 that attend the coffees and about 80 that sign up for Bible studies.
What I like best about this ministry is gettting to know the ladies, no matter what their age, and helping them discover who they can be in Christ.
My favorite verse is: Proverbs 4:23:  "Above all else, guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life."  Once your heart is changed, God can use you in a wonderful way.  I am glad He stuck with me for so long.
Anything to do with family, especially with my grandson, is one of my interests. I love hosting luncheons so women can gather and share what Christ is doing in their lives, and of course, studying God's Word is dear to my heart.
My last thoughts would be that, as women, we are in many seasons of our lives, but in all of them we can benefit from being involved in these Bible studies and coffees. It is imperative we know God's Word and what he says about the plans for our lives.  After all, that is who we are going to be spending eternity with, isn't it?
