Holiday Extravaganza

On Monday and Tuesday was our big Holiday Extravaganza event!  Both nights were sold out as we had many, many women attend.
The tables were beautiful and it was so fun to walk around and see all of the different themes.

There were tables decorated for Christmas and Thanksgiving! It was a lot of fun to get some great ideas for family gatherings.

I am sure that if men were invited, this Buckeye table might be there favorite!

The shopping was great fun too!  There were so many things to look at and purchase for the upcoming holidays!
The Holiday Extravaganza Team did a wonderful job planning these event!  It was another very successful year!

Women's Day Away

Women's Day was a great success with nearly 550 women who attended and 11 decisions for Christ!  The decorations were great, shopping was fun and our speaker was amazing!  What a fun weekend for women!
Liz Curtis Higgs was our speaker and she was powerful as she challenged women!

Of course the decor was great and the color choices this year were so cute!  The bathrooms were even decorated and looking good for the big event!
Apples were a big theme!  Panera provided the food for breakfast and lunch. It was very yummy!
What was your favorite memory at WDA?  Leave a comment and share with other women who visit our blog!  More pictures to come!

Faithful Abundant True

Last night we had about 15 women attend our Tuesday night Bible study. Pricialla Shirer, Beth Moore and Kay Arthur are the 3 authors of this study and WOW!  What a great study!  Last night Kay Arthur spoke about taking a stand in your faith and learning more about God's Word.  It was powerful and I can't wait to learn more!

This morning I began my day with the first day of this study and it was so good!  I can't wait for tomorrow morning.  We still have space available so if you are interested, join us!  We can catch you up on last night's video.   The study begins at 6:30 on Tuesday nights in the South Fellowship Hall at Wooster Grace Brethren Church.

VBS 2012

We had such a great week at VBS!  With over 600 kids coming during the week, it took a lot of helpers!  Many women were involved and we thank you for your service in helping our kids learn more about Jesus and challenging them to grow in their faith!  Hope to see everyone back next summer!

Rest

Well summer is almost officially here and with this new season lots of trip and vacations are planned.  Hopefully you will enjoy a time to relax, unwind and rest.  This past week I spent time in Hilton Head with 2 of my best friends.  We swam in the beach, took walks in the warm sand, of course shopped at the Outlet Mall, and even spent some time in Savannah and visited Paula Dean's restaurant.   It was a wonderful week and we walked away from the week feeling rested.

Psalm 46:10 says, "Be still, and know that I am God." Life gets busy and schedules are full but we need to take time to just be still with Our Father and spend time resting.  So, this is my challenge for us women.  How are you resting this summer?  Do you have any plans for the summer, vacations, trips planned?  Would you mind sharing with our blogging world where you went and what you did?  If you would like to share, please send me an email (workmanerin@hotmail.com) with a picture and a short description of what you did this summer.  I can't wait to hear from you and how you have rested this summer!

Mother's Day

Today is a day we celebrate our mothers and thank them for all that they have done for us!  I know that I am so thankful for my mom and all that she has taught me.  She is a true example of the Proverbs 31 woman!

"A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
"Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all."
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Give her the reward she has earned,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate."
 Proverbs 31:10-12 and 25-31 (NIV)

Happy Mother's Day everyone!  I hope you have a wonderful day!

We Are

I am really enjoying this song right now and I think it has such a powerful message to spread the Good News! We ARE the light of the world!

Every secret, every shame
Every fear, every pain
Live inside the dark
But that's not who we are
We are children of the day

So wake up sleeper, lift your head
We were meant for more than this
Fight the shadows conquer death
Make the most of the time we have left

Chorus:
We are the light of the world
We are the city on a hill
We are the light of the world
We gotta, we gotta, we gotta let the light shine
We are the light of the world
We are the city on a hill
We are the light of the world
We gotta, we gotta, we gotta let the light shine
Let the light shine, let the light shine

We are called to the spread the news
Tell the world the simple truth
Jesus came to save, there's freedom in His Name
So let His love break through

Bridge:
We are the light, We are the light, We are the light
So let your light shine brighter
We are the light, We are the light, We are the light
Jesus
You are the light, You are the light, You are the light
We will lift You higher
Shine, Shine, Shine

Beth Moore Bible Study

On Tuesday night we have a group of about 35 women that meet for a Beth Moore Bible Study called Breaking Free.  We meet in small groups for the first hour of the study and discuss the homework from the week.  The second hour is spent with the whole group to watch Beth Moore and her powerful lesson for the week!
Every few weeks we have a social time and ladies bring in treats and we sit and talk with one another before the video.  It is a great way to connect with other women in the study.

Breaking Free has been a wonderful study!  We are learning so much about forgiveness, obedience and God's unfailing love!  Beth Moore is a fabulous speaker and we love learning more about our Heavenly Father!

A Fresh Start

I came across this weekly encouragement and thought it was such a great reminder!

Acts 3:19-20  Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.  Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and he will again send you Jesus, your appointed Messiah.

One of my favorite songs by Jeremy Camp is called Give Me Jesus.  I have included the You Tube link above.  The lyrics are simple but speak volumes.  We need nothing in this world more than we need Jesus.  As we rise, when we feel alone, when we come to die, we need Jesus.  The many joys of being a Christian come in knowing that our failures can be forgiven.  We can have new beginnings, a fresh start, and unconditional love through Jesus.  If your journey through life is anything like mine, you might agree that without God's mercy and forgiveness we would be destined for an eternity of darkness.  With God, we may be comforted.  If you feel as if you need a fresh start, a new beginning, as do I, together let us turn to Jesus, repent and give thanks for a loving God that sees beyond our faults.  I encourage us all to reflect on the joy we have in knowing Jesus died for us so our sins can be forgiven and we can enjoy everlasting life!
